Done!

Yay!  She's done.  We finished her on Sunday - the last thing I did was shorten the curtains.  Then we packed our clothes in the car and headed off for a cross country trip.  Right now it is just me and the 3 kids, but Dave will join us in San Francisco.  Our plan is to travel the lower states across to California, travel up the California coast and head back along the upper states.  We traveled through the Shenandoah National Park yesterday - today on to Knoxville.  It is so wonderful to be able to use Pearl!
Here are some pics:

I have a long way to go on my camper, we just began strippin it down last weekend, but I will be happy with mine if it turns out half as cute as yours!!

  6. Thanks! We will be going from LA to San Fran so I'll let you know when we are in your neck of the woods. Do you have a blog for your travel trailer? I do love the white :)

  7. Thanks Tammy! We went from bare frame to done in 2 months. A inhuman task which involved the entire family. I never realized how much aluminum the old gal had till we started polishing! You can find the scotty pillows at Etsy and the floor is Bubble Fun from Tarkett, they have other colors as well. Enjoy the ride!

  9. I am getting ready to restore my Shasta and am looking for the formica(?) table/counter top in that light aqua that you used. Please tell me where you found it! Also, were you able to supply the fabric for your awning to Vintage Trailer Supply because I didn't see anything I liked.

    1. Hi Amy, the laminate that we used for the table/counter is "Aqua Boomerang" by Formica. However, after doing a search on this color at the Formica sight, I see that it has been discontinued. According to the site you may be able to special order directly from Formica with a minimum # of sheets. Maybe you could team up with others to order some. Here is what their website said:

      This color has been discontinued
It may still be available as a Make-to-Order item; some limitations on size/minimums may apply
Please contact Formica at 1-800-FORMICA™ (367-6422) for availability.

As an alternative, Wilsonart has some retro styles in their "Indie" colection:

Also, Arborite makes a similar color, see this blog post at Retro Renovation:

Here is a link to the Arborite "Sky Tulle" laminate color:

For the awning, I had found a color that I liked but it was made by the same company that Vintage Trailer Supply uses for the "Traditional Stripe" awning (Weblon). They special ordered the color I wanted.

I've heard good things about "Marti's Vintage Trailer Awnings" where you can have your awning custom made. Here is a link to her blog/contact info:

Good Luck! You know, looking back on it - searching the exact products that I wanted was half the fun :)

  10. You are right about the searching being an adventure! I may have found some and I am trying to work out the details to get it. I have found awning fabric at Loomcraft that has the perfect colors, curtain fabrics, vintage reproduction enamelware dishes, etc. Antique and flea market browsing has been fun and successful in finding 'stuff' for the trailer. Thank you so much for your help.

    1. Ooooooh, sounds like you are finding all kinds of fun stuff! Do you have a link to the Loomcraft awning fabric?

I love flea market finds too. And I've become an Etsy addict.

Please send pics when you're ready!
